Who We Are

OUR MISSION & STORY

YARDLEY-MORRISVILLE INDIVISIBLE is dedicated to strengthening our democracy by empowering and engaging the local community through education, advocacy, and civic participation.

We are friends & neighbors who came together after the 2024 election rooted in the belief that active citizenship and collective action are essential for a vibrant and inclusive democracy.

We are committed to the principles of peaceful resistance and are united in our opposition to violence.

OUR LOCAL NETWORK

YM INDIVISIBLE supports and collaborates with all local Indivisible groups.

OUR ALLIES

IN BUCKS COUNTY we partner with a diverse network to amplify our impact. Our coalition works towards a more just, equitable, and democratic society.

It’s become clear, we need each other.

It’s important to remember:

Authoritarian systems rely on loneliness, division, fear, and suspicion to neutralize opposition. “For resistance to succeed . . . ideas about change must engage people of various backgrounds who do not agree about everything . . . [and] people must find themselves in places that are not their homes, and among groups who were not previously their friends.” (Snyder, 2022.)

Cultivating social connection is not a secondary or “soft” concern but a critical practice of resistance and survival. It gives us the following:

  • Resilience – Friends in the struggle keep each other steady, preventing burnout and despair.

  • Trust – Real relationships make it harder for infiltrators to divide the group.

  • More Courage – Acting together feels safer and braver than standing alone.

  • Staying Power – Movements last longer when people feel cared for and supported.

  • Adaptability – Strong ties help groups respond fast in crises.

  • Leading By Example – How we treat each other shows the kind of society we want to build.

  • Moral Protection – Being connected reminds everyone: we are not powerless and we are not alone.

The connections we make become our shield, our fuel, our power and our salvation.

What are we doing?

We are hold opportunities to get together at least once a month – a happy hour, a coffee shop, a breakfast nook, a park or pumpkin patch - where we can nurture connection as we face the threat this administration poses. Stay tuned.

We are planning our next in-person meeting now and thinking about how we can foster our connections at that meeting. Your ideas are welcome!!!

Enter into this journey with us as we learn together, grow together and make a real difference together.
